How to apply Noxudol sound damping
Our soundproofing materials, Noxudol 3100 and Noxudol 3101, are easy to apply and provide highly effective sound-dampening performance. Below is a guide with tips and advice on how to proceed and what to keep in mind during application.
1. Cleaning
Cleaning the surface is absolutely essential for a good end result. Use a degreasing agent to ensure the surface is completely free from dirt and grease, as any residue can negatively affect adhesion.
2. Masking
Mask off the areas that should not be treated. Be thorough with the masking, as the material is difficult to remove once it has dried.
3. Preparation
Thoroughly dry the surface after cleaning. Stir the contents of the container to ensure the material is evenly mixed until it reaches a uniform consistency. Untreated steel surfaces in humid environments, as well as amphoteric metal surfaces such as unalloyed aluminum, zinc, etc., which can react with alkaline substances, must be primed before application to ensure good adhesion.

4. Application
Noxudol 3100/3101 is most easily applied using a spray gun designed for 1-liter bottles or a high-pressure pump. When using a high-pressure pump, it is important to turn it off when not in use. Interruptions while the pressure is on should be limited to a maximum of 1 minute. After shutting off the pump, the pressure in the hose must be released; otherwise, the material may harden and become difficult to remove.
The spray gun should be front-mounted with the largest possible nozzle, and the hose should be of a large diameter. To achieve effective soundproofing, apply an even layer of 1.0–2.5 mm dry film thickness, depending on the substrate. For thicker films, it is recommended to apply in two passes.

5. Drying
The drying time at normal room temperature is 6–8 hours, depending on the thickness of the layer. At lower temperatures or high humidity, the drying time increases significantly.
The product dries in two stages. First, the water evaporates, followed by a chemical curing process that takes 7–14 days depending on the temperature. After the first stage, the film feels dry and provides approximately 80% of its sound-dampening effect, which then increases during the second stage. Only after full curing (7–14 days) does Noxudol 3100/3101 become resistant to water and frost, and it can then be painted over with most types of paint. Always test a small area first to ensure compatibility with the topcoat.
